What is niacinamide?

Niacinamide is a form of essential Vitamin B3, which helps minimise pores and regulate oil in the skin. Niacinamide also aids in boosting skin cell turnover, which in turn helps rid the skin of dull, dead skin cells to reveal new, fresher skin. It also helps reduce the size of pores and fine lines, making it a key ingredient for healthier skin. It makes up a ¼ of the Pro-4 Power Infusion Matrix™ found in both the MAC Hyper Real Serumizer™ Skin Balancing Hydration Serum and Hyper Real SkinCanvas Balm™ Moisturizing Cream.

Does niacinamide cause purging?
Some products that increase cell turnover can cause purging, but you’ll be pleased to know that this doesn’t happen with Niacinamide, which is why it was chosen as a vital ingredient in our Hyper Real Serumizer™ Skin Balancing Hydration Serum and Hyper Real SkinCanvas Balm™ Moisturizing Cream.

Is niacinamide good for acne?
Absolutely! One of the key niacinamide benefits is that it’s great for non-inflammatory acne but is especially good for inflammatory acne due to niacinamide’s anti-inflammatory effects. This makes it a great choice for acne sufferers but also people with rosacea, wrinkles, and hyper pigmentation. For someone who has acne and an oily skin type, they may find that a niacinamide serum like our Hyper Real Serumizer™ is the perfect product to use alone, without overloading the skin.

What does niacinamide do?
Niacinamide helps build keratin, which can keep your skin firm and healthy. It also contributes to retaining moisture while regulating oil production. Niacinamide works to minimise redness, blotchiness, and pore appearance – keeping skin smooth and clear.

How to use niacinamide.
Niacinamide can come in multiple forms, such as liquid and powder, and can be found in various skincare products to improve skin texture. Massage our Hyper Real SkinCanvas Balm™ into the skin during your morning and evening routine, ensuring you use circular motions. Also apply the Hyper Real Serumizer™ within your regime – gently pressing one or two pumps of the formula upward and outward into the skin.

Can you use niacinamide with retinol?
Yes! Retinol is vitamin A and helps prevent hyperpigmentation, reduces acne and fine lines, and causes mild exfoliation, while niacinamide is vitamin B3 reduces pigment melanin and promotes the formation of ceramides.

Can you use niacinamide with vitamin C?
Absolutely. Together, niacinamide and vitamin C reduce pigmentation and blemishes.
