Growing up in rural Kent, Carly didn’t really discover her love of makeup until her late teens but always had an artistic flair at school. ‘The ‘Art Gang’ really were some of the most fascinating people I knew, little did I know that 15 years later I would be working with those likeminded people!’ ‘The ability to deliver an exceptional makeup for an everyday person is a feeling unmatched. As a Makeup Artist, it’s my job to utilise my experience and knowledge to make them feel seen and more confident. You can almost see their inner fierceness erupt the moment you apply the perfect shade of red lippie. I feel it’s an honour to have someone sit in my chair and for me do their makeup.’

How it all began

After studying Media Makeup in London, Carly joined MAC in 2005. ‘I met someone at college who started working for MAC (which at the time I had NEVER heard of) and she had arranged for me to have an interview. The moment I walked into my interview the area manager shot up out of her chair, embraced me and said “Now this girl needs to work for MAC”, and the rest is history! She credits this as a momentous year that changed her life. ‘I had found a community which embraced diversity and individuality and made colour and creativity accessible to the consumer, I had never seen a brand do this before. It felt like home to me. I could not have been prouder to join a brand with the best people, best products and a belief system that upheld all of my values ’ Carly subsequently went along for the very colourful ride that would see her move through the ranks to become one of MAC’s most tenured and well respected makeup mentors in the UK and Ireland.

Job Spec

As Senior Artist, Carly also has a huge passion for investing time in MAC’s Artist Community, with her natural ability to coach and nurture touching the careers of fledgling and established Makeup Artists alike.

My MAC-itude

‘My journey with MAC has taken me to many far flung destinations; from designing and painting on clothes in Singapore for Asia’s Next Top Model, to winning the World Championship for Bodypainting in Austria.’

Carly’s creativity knows no bounds. ‘My expertise in creative makeup came from a need to satisfy something internally, I wanted to do more, push makeup a bit further, experiment with different makeup mediums. When an eye makeup or lip application could go no further, I developed skill for the more creative side of makeup’ She has earned Global acclaim for this makeup style and bodypainting skills which she has put into practice over the course of 60 seasons of fashion week, endless photoshoots, celebrity clients, creative masterclasses and the odd music festival to boot!
