What colour lipstick suits fair skin?
The answer to this, as with any “which X is best for Y” question, is extremely subjective. In truth, the best lipstick is the one you’ll wear.
If you love deep red lipsticks and have fair skin, go for it! If you love hot pink lipsticks and have fair skin, don’t let anyone stop you. If you love blue or black or brown lipsticks and have fair skin, likewise, they’re your lips! Wear what you love with confidence and nobody will ever think it unbecoming.
Having said that, I can understand the plight of those of us for whom, blessed as we are with complexions like the driven snow, find many popular lip colours so saturated and garish that they overpower any other makeup or clothing we’ve attired ourselves with, and will be happy to make some recommendations on their behalf...Faux is a muted pink with a hint of mauve. It emphasises the natural tones found in the lips without overpowering anything else. If you’re pale but not that pale, then you can up the intensity a little with Twig, which adds a little brick-dust brown into the mix. Line either of these colours with Soar Lip Pencil for some added depth and definition. If no lipstick is ever light enough for you (or your natural lip colour is too intense for your fair complexion) then look no further than Myth or Fleshpot. These two skin-toned lippies are great at muting the natural colour of the lips, allowing a more intense eye look to really shine. You might recall the mid-2000’s trend of foregoing lipstick in favour of dabbing concealer on the lips; Myth and Fleshpot are a bit like that, but much less drastic and, presumably, less drying.
