What is a nice red lipstick?

Red Lipstick is a beauty classic made famous by icons like Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe and Madonna. However, there isnt just one shade of red lipstick, there are hundreds all with subtle differences that alters the undertone, making it suitible for different skin tones, hair colouring and eye colour.

The nicest and most iconic Red Lipstick is MAC Ruby Woo. This intense super matte red is a true red with a hint of blue which means it looks bright and bold and looks good on all skin tones and, as a plus, it makes your teeth look white!

If you have fair skin, MAC Lady Danger works really well as it has a warmer orange undertone to helps to warm up a cooler skin tone.

For a medium skin tone MAC Russian Red is amazing as it is slightly deeper than MAC Ruby Woo so gives a more 1940's look.

For deeper skin tones, other then Ruby Woo, MAC Viva Glam 1 is amazing. Even though its deeper than Ruby Woo, when its applied, it compliments the deeper skin tone bringing the rich red tone of the lipstick to come out looking bold and bright.

If youre not feeling confident enough to wear a bold red matte lipstick then why not try out MAC Powder Kiss Lipstick in the shade Werk, Werk, Werk. It is identical to Ruby Woo but is a softer sheer matte texture that wont dry out your lips. However, if you want something other than a matte lipstick then MAC Cockney is a great alternative as it has a unique gold glitter fleck running through it making this red lipstick shine with a warm golden glow. Which ever shade takes your fancy, the MAC Virtual Try On tool will allow you to try before you buy so you can see whcih shade would suit you best and how the subtle differences within their undertone works with your skin tone.
