There are several ways to apply lipstick. The best way is to firstly get totally smooth lips with MAC Lip Scrubtious. Once suitably scrubbed and soft, prep the lips using Prep & Prime Lip.

Begin filling in the lips with the lipstick bullet getting as close to the lip line as you can. Then take a lip pencil and softly start shading the edges of the lips to create a clean, sharp shape.

Depending on what you're referring to by 'better' a lip balm may be better for a natural look, however, this is still achievable with the right shade and texture of lipstick.

A Lipstick may be better at lasting on the lips as it has more concentrated pigment.

The main benefit to a lip primer is that it will smoothe and condition the lips when it is on. It normally comes in a twist up tube where the product is a solid block, this allows for easier application to the lip. Our Prep and Prime Lip is not only made to give an easier application but it is also packed full of helping qualities such as allowing the appearance of lipstick to be enhanced when worn underneath. Our Prep and Prime Lip also enhances the longevity of your lipstick, it's bascially a lip conditioner that dries down to allow lipstick to adhere to lipstick for a longer period of time.

For the perfect red lip I would start with our Lip scrubtious in "Sweet Vanilla" and apply a pea size amount to the lip in circular movements, this is a sugar based exfoliator that will gently buff away any dry and flaky skin, it will also leave the lips feeling nourished! Then apply the Prep and Prime Lip generously to the whole lip and also go over the lip line to ensure you get the full benefit of the product, once this is done I'd recommend going in with a our Lip pencil "cherry" line your lips using the pencil tip for a defined lip look with long-lasting colour.

To finish the lip go in with our Retro Matte Liquid Lip "Feel So Grand" using its unique applicator for the best application, this will go on wet but then dry down to a full matte lip! With the Prep and Prime Lip underneath this helps keep the lipstick feeling comfortable to wear and gives you the perfect red lip combination!

Satin finish can be found in both face and lipstick formulas. At MAC our satin finishes are a mixture of matte and shine, slightly creamy and hydrating for a great combination.

MAC matte lipstick finishes are non-shine and contain mattifying agents, whereas our cream lipstick finishes have a shinier finish with a mousturing feel.

Lipsticks come in many different textures and formulas, from matte to satin and bullet to liquid formulas. Our matte lipsticks refer to a texture with no shine and can come in a bullet form like our MACximal Silky Matte Lipsticks or liquid like our Locked Kiss Ink 24hr Lipcolour.

To compliment an olive skin tone you are best off going for something that adds a warmer tone to the lip such as red or berry shade.
